PROVIDING FREE, WELCOMING STAYS WITH THE COMFORTS OF HOME FOR REFUGEES, ASYLUM SEEKERS, AND OTHER NEWCOMERS WAS A FOUNDING PILLAR OF AIRBNB.ORG. IN 2023, AIRBNB.ORG ESTABLISHED A NEW INITIATIVE TO FUND AND FACILITATE FREE TEMPORARY HOUSING FOR REFUGEES AND ASYLUM SEEKERS RESETTLING IN THE U.S. THROUGH A SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM. IN ADDITION, AIRBNB.ORG CONTINUED TO PROVIDE FREE STAYS TO NEWCOMERS AROUND THE WORLD, INCLUDING THOSE FROM UKRAINE, AFGHANISTAN AND VENEZUELA, HELPING NEARLY 200,000 INDIVIDUALS SINCE 2020. AIRBNB.ORG PROVIDED GRANTS TO REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT AGENCIES AND OTHER NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO FUND SOME OF THESE STAYS. STAYS WERE ALSO OFFERED AS DIRECT ASSISTANCE TO INDIVIDUALS REFERRED BY NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, WITH FUNDING AND FACILITATION THROUGH AIRBNB.ORG'S RESPONSE ACTIVATION PLATFORM.
