The Way Resource Center implemented the Community Worker Outreach Project CWOP in partnership with the California Department of Industrial Relations to advance worker rights education workplace safety awareness and equitable access to labor protections across the High Desert region. Through a trusted messenger model the organization conducted culturally responsive outreach targeting low-income underserved and historically marginalized populations. Program activities included large-scale community engagement through door-to-door canvassing phone banking and participation in high-traffic community events. During the reporting period the organization reached over 3,300 individuals through direct outreach engaged approximately 2,400 participants at community events distributed more than 2,200 educational materials and completed over 6,000 phone contacts to increase awareness of worker protections and available state resources. The program also included employer engagement strategies to promote safe and compliant workplace practices while connecting workers to workforce development opportunities and supportive services. These efforts contributed to increased community awareness improved worker protections and stronger connections between public agencies and the communities they serve.

The Way Resource Center partnered with the California Office of Community Partnerships and Strategic Communications OCPSC to implement trusted messenger outreach and community engagement initiatives designed to increase access to critical public resources. The program focused on connecting underserved populations to state-supported services including health economic assistance and emergency preparedness programs. Using a community-based and culturally responsive approach the organization conducted outreach through local events digital engagement and direct community interaction. Staff provided one-on-one assistance to help individuals understand and enroll in available programs while also building trust between public institutions and historically underrepresented communities. The program prioritized outreach to low-income families communities of color and geographically isolated residents in the High Desert region. Through these efforts The Way Resource Center expanded access to vital resources improved community awareness and strengthened regional engagement with state initiatives.
