The majority of work has been to support communities facing malnutrition - this has been done through small grants made to 60 community organizers and purchasing basic food ingredients to augment what the communities collectively supply on their own. Last year, we supported programs that fed around 15,000 children, pregnant women, and new mothers, including spending $600,879.84 on food and basic cooking infrastructure for these communities, which collectively are now 200 locations.

2023 saw a continuation of our budget and projects for basic public health supplies. Basic cleaning materials were purchased for our communities so volunteers could safely prepare meals and children safely collect the food made available to them. Our nutrition-program focused health supplies included scales, measuring tapes, and trainings on hygiene, nutrition, and sanitary cooking procedures. We spent $33,642.93 on health supplies and $25,000 in public health campaigns. Grants were given to health professionals to train and assist in this work.

Alimenta conducted a project on empowering women community leaders with additional skills beyond the scope required for safely running community kitchens, so that women were more prepared to support their communities especially in violence reduction work and to equip women with minimal skills to enter the workforce. This program continued from last year, with a similarly sized team and number of grant recipients and training programs.
