Alliance for Climate Resistant California

Alliance for Climate Resistant California (ACRC) was established as a coalition of environmentalists, renewable energy companies, labor and academics with the shared goal of ensuring California continues to lead in the fight against climate change and keep its commitment to achieving a clean energy future. Following the addition of Matt Cate as executive director, ACRC built and leveraged partnerships with stakeholders across the state through the formation of an advisory board of key influencers in Californias labor, renewable energy and the environmental communities. ACRC added to its coalition by recruiting 17 member organizations from the California small business, environmental justice and energy communities. ACRC also established a robust digital presence including a website, Twitter account and Facebook page. The website serves as a repository for information related to the states clean energy goals and commitments. ACRCs social media pages keep supports up-to-date with organic content related to Californias climate commitments and the need to protect legacy renewable energy contracts. Through its digital presence, ACRC amassed more than 500 grassroots supporters who receive regular updates from the organization and have supported ACRCs efforts by signing petitions and sending letters to state leaders. ACRCs digital advocacy was complemented by numerous op-eds authored by Executive Director Matt Cate and ACRC Advisory Board members that were placed in key capitol publications, including CalMatters, the Sacramento Bee, Mercury News and Capitol Weekly. Through these efforts, ACRC highlighted the importance of preserving Californias existing renewable energy power purchase agreements during PG&Es bankruptcy in order to achieve the states climate goals and ensure continued investment in a clean energy future.
