PROGRESS AND RESULTSJUST Living Recovery had the following primary objectives for 2024:* Provide a safe and supportive home and programming that allows residents to stay clean and sober and find purpose and community in their recovery. * Strengthen JLRs model as a peer-led organization, by continuing to develop the skills of residents to effectively manage their own environment. * Continue JLRs DEI initiative, which has set the bar very high for acceptable behavior by residents, staff, and board members. * Implement a new marketing plan to, among other goals, reach more individual donors with the capacity to provide major gifts.* Keep JLR affordable by subsidizing recovery housing so that even its minimal cost is not a barrier for residency. Affordability is critical for people in recovery and JLR is one of the lowest-cost options, helping residents get on their feet sooner. Revenue from resident fees covers only 35% of the cost to operate, as well as maintain the building.The ultimate goal of JLRs programming is that current and former residents do not return to substance abuse, homelessness, or involvement with the criminal justice system. Progress towards these objectives is measured in part by stability and sobriety within JLRs resident population as well as seeing JLR residents survive, thrive, and exit JLRs supportive housing into independent, healthy life situations. Increased programming in 2024 such as art therapy, recovery coaching, and community outings all helped empower residents in their recovery process.JUST Living Recovery served 101 people in 2024, which includes 25 Lakewood residents through residential housing, and 76 others through referral services, with a waiting list of 11 people at the end of the year. 100% of residents are active in recovery and maintaining abstinence from drugs and alcohol. JLR continues its diversity and equity work, including regular consultant-facilitated meetings with Board, staff, and residents addressing policies and actions that support an inclusive and safe environment for all. In 2024, 87% of residents identified as LGBTQ+ and 20% as a person of color, representing increases from 2023 in our target populations. For JLRs board, 40% identify as LGBTQ+ and 60% represent the recovery community, the same percentages as 2023. A goal for 2025 is to increase the diversity of the board even more.JLR has never turned away a potential resident for lack of ability to pay the modest monthly fee. Resident fees cover only 35% of JLRs budget and are some of the lowest recovery residence fees in Colorado, with thanks to support from the City of Lakewood and other grants.
