INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PASTEL SOCIETIES (IAPS) ORGANIZED THE INT'T CONVENTION AT ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO TO ACHIEVE ITS PRIMARY PURPOSE. IAPS ORGANIZED CONVENTIONS TO GET TOGETHER ALL MEMBERS OF THE PASTEL ART SOCIETIES TO ACHIEVE THE FOLLOWING OBJECTIVES: BRING ALL PASTEL ARTISTS TOGETHER AS ONE LARGE REPRESENATION. IAPS DOES NOT PROVIDE INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP. INDIVIDUALS, WHO BELONG TO AN IAPS MEMBER SOCIETY, RECIEVE ALL BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIPS, ASSIST ARTISTS IN THEIR INDIVIDUAL ASPIRATIONS TO BECOME BETTER BY EDUCATIONAL AND INFORMATIVE CONVENTIONS, WITH SEMINARS, DEMONSTRATIONS AND PRODUCT INFORMATION TO EXPAND THE ARTIST'S KNOWLEDGE. HELP EACH PASTEL SOCIETY IN A NETWORK OF INFORMATION THAT WILL BE OF VALUE TO ALL MEMBERS. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED BY EXCHANGING IDEAS AND NEWSLETTERS BETWEEN SOCIETIES. TO CREATE AN AWARENESS TO THE VALUES OF PASTEL PAINTINGS TO ALL ARTISTS, GALLERIES, COLECTORS, MUSEUMS, AS WELL AS POTENTIAL BUYERS OF QUALITY ART. TO EDUCATE ART EXHIBITIONS, SHOWS AND COMPETITIONS ON THE REALITY OF CREATING A PASTEL CATEGORY FOR EQUAL COMPETITION. TO DEVELOP A POSITIVE LINE OF COMMUNICATION WITH VARIOUS ART PUBLICATIONS TO MAINTAIN A REASONABLE FLOW OF PASTEL RELATED FEATURE ARTICLES ABOUT PASTEL ARTISTS.
