VAX 2 STOP CANCER TRAINS PEDIATRIC AND FAMILY MEDICINE PROVIDERS IN ALABAMA TO IMPROVE THEIR HPV VACCINATION RATE. SINCE OUR LAUNCH IN 2020, WE HAVE TRAINED 453 HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS AND STAFF AT 116 PRACTICES IN 42 ALABAMA COUNTIES WITH OUR HPV VACCINE PROVIDER EDUCATION PROGRAM TITLED PREVENTING HPV ASSOCIATED CANCERS THROUGH EFFECTIVE PROVIDER EDUCATION. IN TRAINING, PROVIDERS LEARN THE MOST EFFECTIVE METHOD FOR HPV VACCINE RECOMMENDATION STARTING AT AGE 9, RESEARCH-TESTED MESSAGING TO COUNSEL HESITANT PARENTS, AND STRATEGIES TO DECREASE MISSED OPPORTUNITIES TO GIVE THE VACCINE. VAX 2 STOP CANCER ALSO HAS A DENTAL PROVIDER EDUCATION PROGRAM. THE ONLINE PROGRAM TRAINS DENTISTS, PEDIATRIC DENTISTS, AND HYGIENISTS ON RECOMMENDING THE HPV VACCINE TO THEIR 9-26-YEAR-OLD PATIENTS. OROPHARYNGEAL CANCER IS NOW THE MOST FREQUENTLY DIAGNOSED HPV-ASSOCIATED CANCER, SURPASSING CERVICAL CANCER DIAGNOSES. HPV CAUSES 14,800 CASES OF OROPHARYNGEAL CANCER EACH YEAR IN THE US. THE HPV VACCINE RECOMMENDATION IS CRITICAL TO PREVENTING OROPHARYNGEAL CANCER AND ALL HPV CANCERS.BOTH OF THESE PROGRAMS UTILIZE METHODS ENDORSED BY THE NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE AND MATERIALS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AND THE NATIONAL HPV VACCINATION ROUNDTABLE. WE ALSO EDUCATE PARENTS, ADOLESCENTS, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ON THE SAFETY, EFFICACY, AND IMPORTANCE OF THE HPV VACCINE THROUGH OUR DIGITAL MEDIA PROGRAMS ON FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, TWITTER, LINKEDIN, AND TIKTOK.
