Mission

AT OPEN CAMPUS WE BELIEVE THAT CITIZENS DESERVE BETTER COVERAGE OF THEIR COLLEGES AND HOW WELL THEY SERVE THEIR FAMILIES AND THEIR COMMUNITIES. EVERY DAY WE WORK WITH REPORTERS IN OUR PARTNER NEWSROOMS ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO SCRUTINIZE HOW WELL COLLEGES ARE MEETING THEIR SOCIAL MISSIONS, ASSESS THE IMPACT OF PUBLIC POLICIES, AND TELL STORIES ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHOSE LIVES ARE IMPACTED. BECAUSE OF THAT, CITIZENS ARE ARMED WITH THE INFORMATION THEY NEED TO ENGAGE MORE FULLY IN CIVIC DEBATE AND MAKE BETTER DECISIONS ABOUT THEIR OWN EDUCATION AND CAREERS, TOO. MOST CITIES IN AMERICA LACK A DEDICATED HIGHER-EDUCATION REPORTER. IN FACT, THERE'S NO ONE FOCUSED ON THE BEAT IN ABOUT TWO-THIRDS OF THE NATION'S TOP 50 MARKETS. THAT CREATES A DISCONNECT BETWEEN COLLEGES AND THE PUBLIC, FUELING SKEPTICISM AND UNDERMINING THE PROMISE OF HIGHER EDUCATION. WITH PARTNER NEWSROOMS ACROSS THE COUNTRY WE PUT DEDICATED REPORTERS ON THE BEAT TO COVER ALL FACETS OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND HOW IT IMPACTS PEOPLE AND PLACES.
