Laurel's House provided free veterinary care for 104 companion animals in situations where the only alternatives were surrender or euthanasia of the pet. This access to veterinary care safety net program is especially important in the Houston Texas community where all local shelters are overburdened. Cases ranged from severe burn injuries sustained in a house fire during the February 2021 freeze fracture repair surgeries treatment of life-threatening illnesses such as parvovirus and free boarding and veterinary care for pets of owners fleeing domestic violence situations.
