HueArts Leadership CohortsMuseum Hue completed its inaugural six-month HueArts Leadership Cohort in late 2024, a professional development initiative originating from the recommendations of the HueArts New York State research report findings. A total of 10 participants from New York State arts and cultural nonprofits in the cohort met virtually on a monthly basis, with guest speakers discussing topics such as boards, finance, development, and marketing. This cohort also had the opportunity to re-convene in-person in mid-2025 by attending the Museum Hue 10th Anniversary Symposium and Celebration and participating in a reunion workshop the day after. This reunion workshop included a discussion and tour with the Executive Director of 651 ARTS as well as other tenants of the new L10 Arts and Culture Center in downtown Brooklyn, including the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) and the Brooklyn Public Librarys Library for Arts and Culture. A second six-month HueArts Leadership Cohort also began shortly thereafter in late June 2025, this time with a group of 12 arts leaders from New York City-based nonprofit organizations of color. HueCultures National: Northeast Museum Hue also continued work on its latest research project, HueCultures National: Northeast. In March 2025, a Virtual Town Hall was organized to discuss the initial findings with interested Museum Hue members and the public, including input from research partners Yancey Consulting and Slover Linett at NORC. Transparently sharing and receiving public feedback on our research is an essential to our inclusive process. The Virtual Town Hall was attended by a total of 57 people on Zoom, including members of Museum Hues board as well as the HueCultures Advisory Committee. The forthcoming final draft of the HueCultures National: Northeast research report is well underway and will be published online, alongside an interactive digital map of arts and cultural nonprofits founded- and led- by People of Color in the Northeast region. Museum Hue 10th Anniversary Symposium and CelebrationOn June 5, 2025 Museum Hue successfully led a powerful, day-long convening, Museum Hue 10th Anniversary Symposium & Celebration, presented at, and also in partnership with, BRIC Arts Media in downtown Brooklyn. Attended by more than 200 people, the Symposium highlighted the power of media, advocacy, mapping, and research to explore the visibility, sustainability, and futures of Black, Indigenous, Latine/x, Asian, and all People of Color -led and -founded cultural institutions. Through rousing introductory remarks, a thoughtful keynote conversation between Erin Harkey, CEO of Americans for the Arts and Sonya Childress, Co-ED of Color Congress, also dynamic panels moderated by staff from both Museum Hue and BRIC, we examined innovative strategies that affirmed the power of our communities. Furthermore, as part of the days closing celebration, Museum Hue honored 10 leaders of arts service organizations who have made outstanding contributions to keeping arts and culture thriving. Throughout the day, Symposium attendees had the chance to learn, exchange ideas, and connect across disciplines, working together to reimagine the possibilities for our sector.
