SUPPORT FOR HOMELESS YOUTH AND YOUTH AGING OUT OF FOSTER CARE, INCLUDING HOUSING, YOUTH SUPPORT, GROUP LIFE SKILLS CLASS, MENTORING, BENEFIT ASSESSMENT, PROVISIONS FOR ESSENTIAL NEEDS SUCH AS FOOD, CLOTHING, TRANSPORTATION AND DRIVERS LICENSE AND PERMIT FEES.WAYS OPENED ITS FIRST TRANSITIONAL HOME FOR YOUTH EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS ON OCTOBER 1, 2024. IN ITS FIRST YEAR OF OPERATIONS, THE WAYS HOUSE IS EXPECTED TO HELP 12 YOUTH TRANSITION FROM HOMELESSNESS TO INDEPENDENT LIVING. BEYOND THIS NEW INITIATIVE, WAYS COLLABORATED WITH EIGHT COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO CONNECT MEMBERS TO STABLE HOUSING.IN ADDITION TO HOUSING SUPPORT, WAYS ATTORNEYS PROVIDED NEARLY 500 HOURS OF LEGAL SERVICES IN 2024. COMBINED WITH PRO BONO ASSISTANCE FROM OUTSIDE COUNSEL, WAYS HELPED OVER 70 YOUTH WITH VARIOUS LEGAL MATTERS.174 WAYS MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN THE WAYS CAREER PATHWAYS PROGRAM, A 14 PERCENT INCREASE FROM 2023. 118 WORKED ONE-ON-ONE WITH A VOLUNTEER CAREER COACH, WITH 69 SECURING EMPLOYMENT, 12 ENROLLING IN COLLEGE, 1 COMPLETING THEIR AA DEGREE, 1 COMPLETING THEIR BS/BA DEGREE, AND 14 ENROLLING IN APPRENTICESHIPS OR INTERNSHIPS, WITH 11 COMPLETING THEIR APPRENTICESHIP OR INTERNSHIP. 2 WAYS MEMBERS ENLISTED IN THE MILITARY IN 2024. 91 MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN FINANCIAL WELLNES COACHING, INCLUDING FILING THEIR INCOME TAXES, AND 15 RECEIVED FINANCIAL AID SERVICES. 25% OF WAYS MEMBERS HAVE WORKED ONE-ON-ONE WITH A VOLUNTEER FINANCIAL COACH TO CREATE AN INDIVIDUAL SPENDING PLAN.
