MNPU is dedicated to creating an environment where the vision for education in Minnesota is created with children and families, not for them. We aim to eliminate the status quo so that school leaders and parents are partners in creating great schools and ensuring quality education. MNPU connects, informs, and empowers parent leaders to give families in Minnesota a voice and choice in the vision for reconstructing education.

During the warmer months of the year, our team spent nearly 2,000 hours combined, executing our community engagement strategy. Via our block by block canvassing efforts and tabling at 22 community events, we distributed just over 22,000 total fliers across the Twin Cities. 10,132 parents and community members signed our petition in support of our Minnesota Education Grants effort. We hosted a dozen workshops and information sessions focused on this effort, with 156 attendees in total. We also commissioned a short 3 question survey for parents, which asked, 1. If you could get your child(ren) a better education, would you? 2. Are financial resources a barrier to a better education for your child? 3. Would you choose to receive a $12,000 education grant if you could? Out of 436 total respondents, most of whom were people of color, 100% answered all three questions YES.
