2024 WAS ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL YEAR. WE INCREASED THE POUNDS OF FOOD RESCUED TO 1,933,033 POUNDS. WE ADDED A PART-TIME STAFF PERSON TO THE TEAM FOR A TOTAL OF THREE EMPLOYEES. WE WERE ALSO ABLE TO PURCHASE OUR OWN 6800 SQ FT FACILITY IN OCTOBER. TESTIMONIALS FROM OUR PARTICIPANTS: "LAST WEEK I LISTENED TO A PODCAST THAT TALKED ABOUT HOW WE AS A NATION HAVE LOST OUR SENSE OF COMMUNITY. THAT AFTER THE GREAT DEPRESSION AND WWII WE HAD A SENSE OF WE GOT THROUGH THAT TOGETHER. SINCE THEN WE'VE SLOWLY LOST THAT SENSE OF COMMUNITY. BUT WHEN HE SAID THAT I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT OF VINDEKET. HERE'S AN EXAMPLE OF WHERE THAT'S ABSOLUTELY NOT THE CASE. I'M SO VERY GRATEFUL I GET TO BE A PART OF THIS BEAUTIFUL MISSION AND MOST FABULOUS GROUP OF PEOPLE LOVE YOU ALL" "I LOVE THAT FOOD IS GOING TO PEOPLE THAT WILL USE IT INSTEAD OF TRASHED. YOU CAN ALWAYS FIND SOMETHING HERE THAT YOU LIKE. EVERYONE HERE IS SO HELPFUL." HENRY AT THE MATTHEW'S HOUSE (ONE OF OUR NON-PROFIT PARTNERS) TAKES KIDS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS HIKING AND CAMPING IN THE WOODS. THEY USE OUR SNACKS AND FOOD TO FUEL THE TRIPS WHERE KIDS LEARN ABOUT THE BEAUTY OF THE NATURAL WORLD. LISA WITH BUFFALO YOUTH IS A THERAPIST THAT HELPS INDIGENOUS KIDS WITH TRAUMATIC PASTS. SHE GATHERS SHELF STABLE PRODUCTS TO TAKE TO THE WIND RIVER RESERVATION. OUR SERVICE PARTICIPANTS (VOLUNTEERS) HAVE AGAIN BEEN PIVOTAL TO OUR SUCCESSES IN 2024. IN 2024, WE HAD 635 VOLUNTEERS, WITH 400 OF THEM BEING REPEAT VOLUNTEERS (WORKING MORE THAN ONE SHIFT). WE HAVE 210 ACTIVE VOLUNTEERS AT ANY GIVEN TIME - WITH ABOUT 130 VOLUNTEER SLOTS PER WEEK THAT ARE 93% FILLED. THEIR COMMITMENT TO VINDEKET IS PIVOTAL, AND ALIGNS WITH OUR LARGER MISSION AND CHARITABLE PURPOSES. WE ARE ENTHUSED AND GRATEFUL TO SEE OUR COMMUNITY STEP UP ITS EFFORTS TO PREVENT WASTE IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY, AS WELL AS TAKE CARE OF ONE ANOTHER CHARITABLY. ADDITIONALLY, THE LARGER AMOUNTS AND GREATER VARIETY OF FOOD RESCUED ALLOWED US TO BETTER SERVE OUR NON-PROFIT PARTNERS AND MEET MORE OF THEIR NEEDS IN 2024. WE WERE ABLE TO PARTNER WITH AND GREW TO SERVE FOOD TO 32 DIFFERENT NON-PROFITS HERE IN NORTHERN COLORADO.
