VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION TO INCLUDE VOICE OF DEMOCRACY AND PATRIOTS PEN ESSAY CONTEST. MONETARY PRIZES ARE AWARDED TO THE FIRST THREE PLACE WINNERS IN EACH CONTEST. VETERANS ARE ACKNOWLEDGED AND A MEAL IS SERVED TO VETERANS, THEIR FAMILIES AND OTHER COMMUNITY MEMBERS INCLUDING THE STUDENT CONTEST WINNERS AND THEIR FAMILIES. APPROXIMATELY 95 PERSONS ATTENDED. POST MEMBERS AND AUXILIARY MEMBERS VOLUNTEERED TO COOK, SERVE AND CLEAN UP. TOTAL VOLUNTEERS WERE 12 MEMBERS AND 4 COMMUNITY MEMBERS.

MEMORIAL DAY CELEBRATION. POST AND AUXILIARY MEMBERS TRAVEL TO THREE CEMETERIES IN THE COUNTY TO PLACE FLAGS ON EVERY HEAD STONE OF A DECEASED VETERAN AND A VFW AUXILIARY BANNER ON DECEASED AUXILIARY MEMBERS HEAD STONE. A SHORT CEREMONY IS HELD AT EACH CEMETERY ALONG WITH A 21 GUN SALUTE. NEW FLAGS AND FLAG HOLDERS ARE PURCHASED EACH YEAR. THE POST ALSO DONATED 100 NEW FLAGS TO THE TOWN OF OLNEY SPRINGS. THERE WERE A TOTAL OF 20 MEMBERS AND FAMILY MEMBER VOLUNTEERS.
