TO HELP MAINTAIN THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE STANDARDS IN ATHLETICS AND IN THE COACHING PROFESSION AND TO WORK TOGETHER FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF CONDITIONS IN NEW MEXICO HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS BY: --FOSTERING THE KNOWLEDGE OF SPORTS SKILLS, THE PSYCHOLOGY OF COACHING, ETHICS OF COACHING, AND SPORTSMANSHIP BY CONDUCTING COACHING SCHOOLS AND BY OFFERING THE TRAINING COACHES NEED TO BECOME LICENSED; --FOSTERING THE STUDY OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND ENCOURAGING THE DEVELOPMENT OF YOUNG COACHES; --SUPPORTING ACTIVITIES THAT WILL HELP PROVIDE HIGHER EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY FOR THE YOUTH OF NEW MEXICO; AND --ENCOURAGING RESEARCH AND PREPARATION OF PUBLICATIONS DEVOTED TO ENHANCING THE SKILLS OF COACHES IN NEW MEXICO.

A.THE NMHSCA HAS POSITIVELY IMPACTED HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT-ATHLETES AND COACHES ACROSS NEW MEXICO BY SELECTING AND RECOGNIZING ALL-STAR ATHLETES, ALL-STATE ATHLETES, AND AWARD-WINNING COACHES. ADDITIONALLY, THE NMHSCA HAS ENHANCED THE QUALITY OF HIGH SCHOOL COACHING IN NEW MEXICO THROUGH VARIOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS. B.THE NMHSCA SELECTED 440 ALL-STAR ATHLETES WHO PARTICIPATED IN ALL-STAR GAMES FOR CROSS COUNTRY, FOOTBALL, VOLLEYBALL, BOYS- AND GIRLS' BASKETBALL, SOFTBALL, AND BASEBALL. OVER 740 ALL-STATE ATHLETES WERE SELECTED AND PUBLISHED FROM 1,902 NOMINATIONS. THE NMHSCA ALSO RECOGNIZED OVER 100 AWARD-WINNING COACHES AT BOTH THE STATE AND NATIONAL LEVELS. FURTHERMORE, THE NMHSCA HOSTED THREE COACHING CLINICS THAT PROVIDED TRAINING FOR MORE THAN 2,000 COACHES. C.THOUSANDS OF HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES AND COACHES BENEFITED FROM THE NMHSCA'S NON-PROFITT INITIATIVES. THE NMHSCA PLAYED A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN ADVOCATING FOR STUDENTS AND COACHES BY REPRESENTING THEM ON THE NMAA COMMISSION, AT NMAA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETINGS, AND NATIONALLY AT ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS NOCAD, NHSACA, NHSBCA, NFHS, AND OTHERS. D.THESE ACCOMPLISHMENTS ALIGN WITH THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF INTERSCHOLASTIC COMPETITION IN NEW MEXICO AND TO IMPROVE THE INTERSCHOLASTIC EXPERIENCE FOR STUDENTS AND COACHES. E.THE REPORTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS ARE FOR THE CURRENT YEAR.
