Serving Dept of Education-PREVENTION-serving social workers, school counselors and at-risk families through the Attendance Review Council - Leilehua Mililani Complex. Fourth year serving on the School Community Council at Ka'ala Elementary School which is a Title I school (85% or more of students qualify for free breakfast and lunch). Programs - Tangible Family Support Services: Kokua Closet - 200 children served; School supplies - over 1,200 students received brand new backpacks and school supplies; CarePortal - 739 children served. Events: May - National Foster Care Month Prayer Vigil; November - National Adoption Month Celebration Worship Night; Happy Birthday Jesus Celebration in Person at Mililani Mauka Recreational Center 5 - over 50 families served and 90 keiki who did not attend received gifts. Family Support Services: Hui Ho'ola - (Healing Groups/Circle) A talk story small group or family setting with teen girls who are also new mothers. Girls process their emotions in a healing, safe and fun way in a non-therapeutic setting. This is done by using an evidenced-based, attachment and trauma informed approach. We evaluate the effectiveness of our programs with the data from pre and post assessments, administered by the Program Director, in conjunction with the child's care givers and child welfare professionals.
