Our services include employment support, training, nutrition and advocacy, translations, and emergency assistance. Over the past 10 years, we havecollaborated with the OCDOH to operate the Healthy Orange Farmers Market, based in the citys central region during the summer and fall. The farmersmarket provides residents with the opportunity to purchase fresh, local vegetables and fruit using SNAP benefits. We also instituted an incentivecoupon program by creating access to Freshconnect Coupons which offer additional funds to residents who use SNAP at the market. We also facilitatednutrition education programming alongside the coupon incentives. Although the market has utilized Senior Coupons when available, it has becomeclear that the need goes well beyond those of older age. There are many families and residents in need who dont qualify for the Senior Coupons. Theweekly farmers market has been critical for CON residents who have limited options for healthy, fresh produce many CON residents also facetransportation and income barriers.
