Kids In Nutrition (KIN) provides elementary nutrition curricula that establish a foundation for food literacy and lifelong healthy, sustainable eating habits through a unique student-led delivery model. In 2025, KIN reached 2,093 elementary students across 107 classrooms by mobilizing a network of 829 university student volunteers. These volunteers delivered 737 evidence-based, culturally relevant nutrition lessons and distributed 111 recipe kits to facilitate hands-on learning and home-based meal preparation. The program utilized a mentorship approach and diverse learning strategies, including interactive visuals, games, physical activities, meal assembly, and personal reflection, to improve youth nutrition knowledge and community health outcomes. Operating across nine university chapters, including UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Indiana University, Butler University, Tufts University, Northeastern University, and UNC Chapel Hill, the program simultaneously fostered leadership and communication skills in its volunteer workforce while providing essential health education to youth communities.
