TGIJP was founded in 2004, and is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2023. TGI Justice Project has successfully been providing services to the Black transgender and gender nonconforming community in San Francisco, primarily in the areas of re-entry services, leadership development, community organizing, and legal and social support services to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated trans community members. We have recently added a Housing Program and in the last year a Wellness Program that centers the unique needs of formerly incarcerated Black Trans community members to re-engage in society. In 2023, we served about 750 people through our San Francisco based programs, and as many as 1000 people in California and nationally.
