The United Way of Eddy County has recently added a program to assist families during a fire or other emergency. Food Distribution: The United Way of Eddy County continued to organize a monthly food distribution effort. The effort fed 225 families per month at the start of the fiscal year, but was feeding 275 families by the end of the fiscal year. Transit Service: The United Way of Eddy County reimburses Carlsbad Municipal Transit for certain rides to veterans and provides transit passes on an as-needed basis. Special Events: Through its Stuff the Bus program, the United Way of Eddy County raised approximately $38,000 in school supplies for local children. The organizations Day of Caring saw 200 volunteers assist with repairs at ten agencies. The United Way conducts small events throughout the year, such as facilitating a giveaway of bed frames and mattresses and multiple holiday food drives. Scholarships: The United Way of Eddy County provided four scholarships to Eddy County residents during this fiscal year, totaling $6,000.
