CAF La Palomera - Casa De Todos. This project began in May 2024 and concluded in November 2025. It entailed 4 components, 1) strengthening of the cultural and artistic activities that take place in the Casa de Todos, increasing income and quality among the various cultural groups. This goal was met through open invitation scenography design, dance, and poetry workshops with distinguished instructors as well as modeled performances and concerts. 2) planting 200 trees along the southern edge of the barrio and creating a nursery in the Casa de Todos, was met successfully and led to the opportunity of a new grant (ReArc Institute) to plant 2,000 more trees. 3) strengthening the productive activities of neighbors in La Palomera by understanding their businesses and helping them acquire needed machinery, or equipment through a credit cooperative that they have created amongst themselves. This component was perhaps the most successful, creating a self-generated fund comprised of 21 businesses, that helps support its members with microcredits. Participants also receive financial education. Finally 4) we surveyed all the service infrastructure including access to potable water, sewage, electricity, gas and internet. It reveals clear opportunities for improvements to the various systems without requiring total removal and replacement, which is what professionals today consider the only option.

La Palomera Common Forest Project. This project began in January 2025. The goal is to plant 2000 trees on an 18-hectare site that is municipal non-buildable land. It includes the procurement of trees, the organization of a nursery network among neighbors and supporters. Irrigation infrastructure is being built through bamboo water catchment roofs where the rainwater is stored in plastic removable and reusable tanks, then distributed over the planted territory with drip hoses. A staff of 7 to 10 local neighbors are in charge of construction, irrigation and overall maintenance. Gabions made of metallic mesh hold construction debris and are used to slow water drainage and to create benches.
