Hummingbird Indigenous BirthKeepers is Hummingbird's foundation program. Our doulas begin working with families as early as they call. Additionally, the BirthKeeper program is a full spectrum doula program meaning we provide support to pregnant people regardless of the outcome of their pregnancy. This means the BirthKeepers support them through the termination of a pregnancy, pregnancy loss as well as trying to conceive. Although an overwhelming majority of the Relatives Hummingbird serves are pregnant and planning to parent. The BirthKeepers provide prenatal support, childbirth and breastfeeding education, labor and delivery support and postpartum support. In 2024 BirthKeepers served 108 unduplicated families. They have provided 1, 874 home visits, attended 69 births for a total of 3,534 service hours.
Pilimakua Family Connections provides in home supports to families. They work with families who are at least 27 weeks pregnant through their child's 3rd birthday. Home Visitors deliver a community...
Pilimakua Family Connections provides in home supports to families. They work with families who are at least 27 weeks pregnant through their child's 3rd birthday. Home Visitors deliver a community designed curriculum that centers infant and child development, caregiver mindfulness self compassion and cultural and language reclamation. In addition to Home Visiting services, Pilimakua hosts a monthly family connection event. Our family connection events take place in community and centers language and culture and are developmentally appropriate for young children. Additionally, Pilimakua hosts a bimonthly parent group. In 2024, Pilimakua services 124 unduplicated families through its various services. Pilimakua at its core is a Home Visiting program. In 2024 we serviced 45 families providing 480 assessments and 565 home visits.

The Nest is Hummingbird's guaranteed basic income pilot program. The Nest is 100% privately funded and provides no strings attached income to Native American, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander mothers. The Nest began enrollment in August of 2023 and enrolled 15 mothers a month for 10 months with the enrollment period ending in May 2024. 150 mothers receive $1250 a month through their child's third birthday. This cash is "no strings attached" meaning they do not need to do anything beyond the eligibility requirements to receive their gift. Through the Nest families have access to the Nest staff (Program Manager and Abundance Auntie) who provide case management, check-ins, financial planning and social/emotional support as well as other Hummingbird programs.
