Since the start of the project, we have conducted successful once a month workdays. During community workdays, volunteers played a crucial role in the project restoration area. They engaged in various tasks such as planting native vegetation to contribute to erosion control measures and removing invasive species in streams and invasive plants in the restoration area. Community volunteers also participated in debris removal, helping to clear the area of litter and unwanted materials. Some assisted with water quality testing and wildlife surveys, contributing to the project's scientific data collection efforts. The collective effort of volunteers significantly accelerated the restoration process, allowing for more extensive area coverage and task completion than would have been possible with limited staff alone.we began the out planting of more native plants in the restoration areas for crucial ecosystem recovery and biodiversity conservation. This process involves careful site assessment, selection of appropriate native species like the milo, kou, kukui, and proper propagation techniques. Restoration efforts focus on clearing invasive plants and preparing the soil before introducing native flora. Ongoing maintenance, including irrigation and protection from environmental factors like heavy rains and flooding, is essential for successful establishment. By increasing the presence of native plants, these efforts help restore ecological balance.
