The First-Gen Near-Peer Mentoring Program (FGNP) is a mentoring initiative that pairs first-generation college students across Colorado with K12 youth to foster a strong sense of belonging through social-emotional mentorship. Over the course of the academic year, mentors meet with their mentees weekly through one-on-one and small-group sessions that center belonging, emotional wellness, and identity development. These meaningful connections create spaces where youth can talk openly about identity, mental health, and how to navigate educational systems, while celebrating their languages and resilience.
