President Doug Johnson called for a report of the internal investigations of racial complaints in the Seattle Fire department, Secretary Jameel Andrews gave the report. Secretary Andrews reported that it had been floated that immediate admin leave should happen when somebody has committed an act of racism... According to Chief Scoggins, that is something that is currently in a grey area and was noted for a possibility, but on a case by case basis. There was talk of getting a document together to keep the affinity groups updated on the progress of the investigation. It was asked if there had been announcement about the outcome of the Cox trial, and no one had heard an update yet. President Johnson gave a report about the importance of volunteers needed from the SBFFA for the SFD hiring panel, so there is representation of black people in the hiring process. He urged SBFFA members to volunteer. President Johnson also reminded that Lieutenants are now able to apply to the ELA, and that it was important for members to volunteer.
