OMAHA DOCUMENTERS TRAINS AND PAYS LOCAL RESIDENTS TO ATTEND AND ANNOTATE GOVERNMENT MEETINGS, TURNING LOCAL KNOWLEDGE, RELATIONSHIPS, AND CAPACITY OF RESIDENTS INTO A POWERFUL COMMUNITY INFORMATION RESOURCE.OMAHA DOCUMENTERS IS BUILDING A NETWORK OF COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND CITIZEN JOURNALISTS, FROM EVERY ZIP CODE IN OUR COMMUNITY, TO DOCUMENT THESE MEETINGS THROUGH DETAILED NOTE TAKING, LIVE-TWEETING, AND ULTIMATELY, REVIEWING LOCAL GOVERNMENT DATA AND RECORDS. WE PUBLISH THOSE FACT-CHECKED NOTES FOR ALL TO USE, MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY AND MEDIA ESPECIALLY, BUILDING A PUBLIC RECORD OF HOW DECISIONS ARE MADE AT PUBLIC MEEETINGS.AS PART OF A NATIONAL NETWORK, OMAHA DOCUMENTERS DRAMATICALLY INCREASES LOCAL JOURNALISM CAPACITY WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY CREATING POINTS OF ACCESS FOR ANYONE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROCESS OF PRODUCING CIVIC MEDIA.

ALLEN AND MARK MCGAUGH NOW STREAM THEIR NEWS TALK PROGRAM THREE DAYS A WEEK, FEATURING NEWS CURATION AND LOCAL NEWS MAKING GUESTS, ENGAGING HUNDREDS AND REACHING THOUSANDS.

REPORT FOR AMERICA (RFA) IS A NATIONAL SERVICE PROGRAM THAT PLACES JOURNALISTS INTO LOCAL NEWSROOMS TO REPORT UNDER-COVERED ISSUES AND COMMUNITIES. AN INITIATIVE OF THE NONPROFIT MEDIA ORGANIZATION, THE GROUNDTRUTH PROJECT, IT IS STRUCTURED TO HARNESS THE SKILLS AND IDEALISM OF AN EMERGING GROUP OF JOURNALISTS PLUS THE CREATIVE SPIRIT OF LOCAL NEWS ORGANIZATIONS.
