Led by formerly incarcerated people, we aim to eradicate poverty and incarceration, and in their place, create communities of care that support self-determination and keep families safe. In 2024, SOI provided housing to 260 people, engaged 120 participants in employment and entrepreneurship services, with over 70% placement, and registered more than 400 new first-time voters. Other work included Family Reunification, where we have helped 9 families reunite and supported new hubs in California, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Texas. SOI provided case management, peer support, outreach, and community organizing to people in Riverside, San Bernardino, and Los Angeles. SOI provided 42,000 pounds of food and clothing to the local community and offered four pro-bono legal clinics throughout Riverside County.
