THE GIRDWOOD HEALTH CLINIC INC (GHCI) OFFERS PRIMARY MEDICAL AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CARE SERVICES TO THE PERMANENT AND SEASONAL RESIDENTS OF THE TURNAGAIN ARM AREA, AS WELL AS TOURISTS VISITING THE RESORT TOWN. THE CLINIC ALSO OFFERS ANCILLARY SERVICES SUCH AS X-RAY AND LAB. GHCIS SERVICE AREA INCLUDES GIRDWOOD, WHITTIER, HOPE, BIRD CREEK AND INDIAN. GHCI SERVES ALL PATIENTS REGARDLESS OF ABILITY TO PAY AND OFFERS DISCOUNTS BASED ON FAMILY SIZE AND INCOME. THE CLINIC ACCEPTS MEDICARE AND MEDICAID PATIENTS AND IS A PREFERRED PROVIDER FOR SEVERAL COMMERCIAL INSURANCE PLANS. IN 2023 GHCI SERVED 1,290 UNDUPLICATED PATIENTS. 53% OF PATIENTS SERVED HAVE INCOMES LESS THAN 200% OF THE FEDERAL POVERTY GUIDELINES, AND 26% ARE EITHER UNINSURED OR COVERED BY MEDICAID. GHCI HAS BECOME THE MEDICAL HOME FOR THE MAJORITY OF LOCAL RESIDENTS.
