WYANDOTTE COUNTY HAS KANSAS SECOND HIGHEST POPULATION OF REENTRY INDIVIDUALS. APPROXIMATELY 400 PEOPLE ARE RELEASED ANNUALLY WITH THE EXPECTATION OF AMALGAMATION - YET THEY ARE UNPREPARED. THROUGH OUR WORK WITH 1,231 CLIENTS TO DATE, TVI HAS NOTED THAT THE PITFALLS OF THEIR PAST LIVES OFTEN REQUIRE MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO PREVENT RELAPSES. SUCH INSIGHTS RESULTED IN US RESPONDING BY PROVIDING IN-HOUSE TRAINED PROFESSIONALS. WE THEREFORE RUN TWO SUCCESSFUL RECOVERY/TRANSITIONAL HOUSES AND REQUEST THE FUNDING NECESSARY TO BENEFIT HUNDREDS MORE BY ADDING FOUR STAFFED HOUSES. EACH HOME IS KNOWN AS A HOUSE OF HOPE BECAUSE IT PROVIDES A SOBER LIVING ENVIRONMENT WITH A HOUSING MANAGER, AS WELL AS MENTORS WHO INDIVIDUALLY ASSIST WITH THE GUIDANCE, COPING SKILLS, AND DAILY SUPPORT NECESSARY TO CONFIRM GOOD DECISION MAKING. RETURNING RESIDENTS CAN STAY IN TVI HOMES FOR 18 MONTHS WHILE ENROLLED IN OUR WRAPAROUND SERVICE.
