Primm ABC Child Care Center

Primm has been providing supervised care, preschool education and summer activities to children in the South End of Seattle since 1970. Primm is licensed by DCYF to provide care for 102 children ages 1-12, providing toddler, preschool and school age programs. The families served by the childcare center reflect the diversity found throughout King county. Sixty-eight percent of enrolled families are families of color. The completed expansion in 2022 enabled more children to receive high quality, culturally appropriate preschool education in a community that is experiencing dramatic displacement pressures. Primm augments its curriculum with teaching about cultural pride and diversity, and focuses on building self-esteem among its mainly Black, and Latino children. Some classes are taught bi-lingually. It has one of the lowest tuition rates for child care in the City. The City of Seattle has contracted with Primm to provide early learning education under their Levy and the State of Washington ECEAP program in the amount of $800,000 to children ages 3 - 5. This is our largest program area and we have slots to serve 40 children. The second largest program is our toddler program where children ages 1-3 are provided a preschool curriculum. Revenue is generated by private tuition and subsidy payments in excess of $500,000. Primm served 27 toddlers and rising preschoolers. Third revenue program is the school-age enrichment program for ages 5 - 12 which generates approximately $100,000. Primm provides supervised activities paid for by parent tuition and subsidy payments. We serviced 15 school age children. Primm is open from 7:00 am to 6 p.m. Monday through Fridary for 51 weeks per year. We offer 180 days of preschool instruction. We provide a summer program for all ages in July and August.
