PROGRAMS - THE DAVIS HIGH SCHOOL MADRIGALS ARE AN AUDITIONED GROUP OF HIGH SCHOOL SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS AND SENIORS FROM DAVIS, CA WHO PERFORM A CAPPELLA AND ACCOMPANIED MUSIC DATING FROM THE RENAISSANCE PERIOD TO PRESENT TIMES. MUSIC PERFORMED BY THE CHOIR INCLUDES COMPOSITIONS BY EARLY COMPOSERS MORLEY, VICTORIA, PALESTRINA, MONTEVERDE AND MODERN COMPOSERS ERIC WHITACRE AND RANDALL STROOPE. IN THEIR DISTINCTIVE RENAISSANCE-INSPIRED COSTUMES, INTERPRETING THE DRESS OF THE UPPER CLASS OF LATE 15TH THROUGH MID-16TH CENTURY ENGLAND, THE CHOIR PERFORMS APPROXIMATELY 40 TIMES EACH YEAR AT VARIOUS PUBLIC AND PRIVATE EVENTS. EACH DECEMBER THE CHOIR PRESENTS A LIVELY HOLDIDAY FEAST IN THE SPIRIT OF THE 16TH CENTURY. THIS FEAST IS ONE OF THE DAVIS COMMUNITY'S LONGEST-RUNNING AND BEST LOVED MUSICAL TRADITIONS.
