Furry Friends

Furry Friends is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit no-kill cat rescue serving Clark County, Washington, and surrounding areas since 1999. We are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming homeless, abandoned, and abused cats. Our mission is simple but powerful: Our Mission is to rescue the abandoned, the abused, and the forgotten. We specialize in cat hoarding situations, strays, neonates, and medical cases while providing clean living conditions, medical care, and an enriching environment full of love and care until adoption. Each year, we provide medical care, spay/neuter surgeries, food, and shelter for over 1000 cats/kittens.In 2024, we achieved a remarkable 750 adoptions. We also distributed 12,000+ pounds of food to families in need and expanded our foster network to 54 homesa vital part of our ability to save lives. Without our community's support, many of these cats would have faced euthanasia, lived in unsafe conditions, or contributed to overpopulation.We are proud to have a strong team of over 200 dedicated volunteers, including seven active board members and three staff members, who collectively donated a record-breaking 140,000+ hours in 2024. These passionate individuals come from all walks of life but are united in one cause: saving cats.Our Shelter and Foster ProgramOur Vancouver shelteraffectionately called the Halfway Housetypically houses around 32 adult cats. While we keep the location confidential for safety reasons, potential adopters can easily schedule visits through our online request form or voicemail system. With flexible volunteer schedules, most visits can be arranged within a few hours.At any given time, we care for up to 215 cats and kittens, most of whom are in foster homes. Kittens are always placed in foster care to ensure their delicate health is monitored closely and their socialization needs are met. We also support about 5 special-needs or senior cats in permanent foster homes, ensuring they live out their lives comfortably and with love.Quality Medical CareEvery cat we take in receives a thorough 2030-minute health exam by our medical team. This includes testing for FIV/FeLV if warranted, vaccinations, flea/worm treatment, microchipping, and medication when needed. Our trusted veterinary partners provide spay/neuter services, rabies shots, dental procedures, X-rays, and other advanced care.In 2024, we continued to prioritize cats most in needthose who are sick, injured, abandoned, or victims of hoarding. Our Hoarding Response Program, launched in 2023, has been instrumental in helping cats from crisis environments while also supporting owners in breaking the cycle of neglect.Looking Ahead: Our Own Medical ClinicWere thrilled to announce that the city has approved our plans for a dedicated medical clinic, set to begin construction in 2025! This will be a major leap forward for Furry Friends and the entire local rescue community. With this clinic, we will:Provide spay/neuter for our catsLaunch a full-scale TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program to reduce stray cat populationsOffer low-cost services to small rescues lacking veterinary accessThis clinic will directly reduce the number of unwanted litters, ease the strain on shelters, and allow us to help even more cats in need.
