THE ECONOMIC ALLIANCE PROMOTES AND COORDINATES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES IN OKANOGAN COUNTY. DURING THE PAST YEAR, THE ECONOMIC ALLIANCE HAS PROVIDED COUNSELING SERVICES THROUGH THE SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER TO OVER 86 ACTIVE CLIENTS WITH 9 NEW BUSINESS STARTUPS. THESE CLIENTS WERE ABLE TO EITHER CREATE OR RETAIN 51 JOBS IN OKANOGAN COUNTY. BUSINESS ASSISTANCE WAS ALSO PROVIDED THROUGH THE ECONOMIC ALLIANCE'S WEDFA/ADO PROGRAMS TO OVER 160 BUSINESSES OR PROPOSED BUSINESSES. WE ALSO HELPED TO COORDINATE FORUMS AND INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS WITH ORGANIZATIONS, WHICH HELPED TO EDUCATE AND INFORM THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY. THE ECONOMIC ALLIANCE IS ALSO THE SMALL BUSINESS RESOURCE AND TECHNOLOGY CENTER, WHICH ALLOWS BUSINESSES ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGY NEEDED TO HELP THEM DEVELOP OR EXPAND INTO THE ONLINE MARKETPLACE. THE ECONOMIC ALLIANCE ALSO PROVIDES A HOMEBASE AND CLERICAL SUPPORT FOR THE OKANOGAN COUNTY TOURISM COUNCIL, WHICH HELPS TO SUPPORT THE TOURISM INDUSTRY IN OKANOGAN COUNTY. ECONOMIC ALLIANCE'S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SERVED AS BOARD MEMBER ON THE NCW ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT, FAMILY HEALTH CENTERS, AND NCW WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL. OVER THE PAST YEAR, THE ECONOMIC ALLIANCE HAS ALSO CONTINUED TO WORK WITH POSSIBLE NEW BUSINESS LOCATIONS AND RESPONDED TO LEADS RECEIVED FROM THE STATE. COMPANIES LOOKING TO MOVE OR EXPAND TO OUR AREA WERE PROVIDED DEMOGRAPHIC INFORMATION INCLUDING POPULATION, MAJOR EMPLOYERS, WORKFORCE, UTILITIES, AND FACILITIES INFORMATION.
