ASAA'S PRIMARY PURPOSE IS THE PROMOTION AND REGULATION OF HIGH SCHOOL INTERSCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES OF THE MEMBER SCHOOLS OF ALASKA. THE ORGANIZATION SPONSORED 36 STATE HIGH SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPS, LICENSED OVER 1,000 SPORTS OFFICIALS, TRAINED COACHES, AND MONITORED ELIGIBILITY OF 30,000 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. THE ORGANIZATION PROMOTED HEALTHY LIFESTYLE HABITS THROUGH THE "PLAY FOR KEEPS" PROGRAM, AND ADVOCATING AVOIDANCE OF TOBACCO, ALCOHOL, AND DRUG USE.
