Transitional Housing: We consistently had our four sober living homes at 90% capacity. We are introducing our Community Members to a few different approaches that research shows have an impact on those with difficult past experiences. For example, we had an instructor teach journaling and creative writing for recovery for people who have experienced trauma. This quote highlights the impact of that particular session:When I feel angry, it's like shaking up a Coke can and watching it explode all over me. Journaling gives me a place to write down these things and get them out, so they dont explode all over me and everyone around me. We also introduced the men to yoga that prompted these comments: Im going to do yoga every morning, anything to help me stay sober. I am stoked, I plan on doing something like this throughout my recovery. We will continue to offer different modalities so that Community Members can discover the most effective practices to support their long-term sobriety.Aurora Day Resource Center and Overnight Emergency Services: Successfully trained staff and implemented a new culture of service to support the unhoused guests. We consistently see about 65 people per day and offer them case management, hygiene products, and emotional support to address their underlining challenges.
