All children deserve access to community, care, and education. Unfortunately, far too many families raising young children with disabilities in San Diego County are not finding that access. Includ(Ed) was established to address the county-wide, pervasive need for quality, fully inclusive preschool and childcare for families raising children with disabilities. We build inclusive, early intervention-focused early learning classrooms and communities where babies, toddlers, and children with disabilities can thrive alongside their typically-developing peers.

In February 2024, we opened our first program in our new physical location in Pacific Beach: The Includ(Ed) Center for Families. We provide space for co-working, self-care, and connection for our caregivers (including free art therapy and support groups monthly as well as free family meetups monthly). And most importantly, we provide an enriching, research-backed and early intervention-focused preschool classroom for learning, discovery, connection, and growth. We are currently serving 6 preschool-aged children every Monday-Thursday, approximately 5 children for Music Therapy on Wednesdays, and 8-12 babies and young toddlers for Developmental Playgroups every Friday. Additionally, we provide in-home therapies to almost 30 families across San Diego County at no cost to families (vendored by the San Diego Regional Center). We support our students with a group of highly trained and skilled pediatric therapists and educators who are relationship and play-based as well as neurodiversity-affirming. Through our team, which includes a Special Educator, a Music Therapist, an Occupational Therapist, a Physical Therapist, and a Speech Therapist, our students receive hours of weekly therapeutic intervention, all naturally embedded into our preschool curriculum.Our plans for the remainder of the 2024 calendar year are to open three full-time, fully licensed classrooms for ages 3 months to 5 years old at our Pacific Beach location.
