MULTISPECIALTY CARE: UChicago Medicine Northwest Indiana OPENED its two-story, 130,000-square-foot multispecialty care center in Northwest Indiana to patients on April 29, 2024. UChicago Medicine Northwest Indiana offers a range of adult and pediatric specialty services that include: - Infusion therapy, radiation and medical and surgical oncology for cancer patients - MRI, CT, PET, X-ray and ultrasound imaging capabilities, and a breast imaging center - An ambulatory surgery center (ASC) - Laboratory services - Access to the next generation of advanced treatments through UChicago Medicine clinical trials - An eight-bed emergency department and eight-bed inpatient unit The facility - called UChicago Medicine Northwest Indiana - offers advanced specialty care, including pediatric care from UChicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital experts, in the following areas: For all ages: cancer, digestive diseases, heart and vascular care, and neurosciences For adults: obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), pain management and transplant For children: allergy and immunology, endocrinology, general surgery, infectious diseases, orthopaedic surgery, otolaryngology (ENT), plastic surgery, pulmonary medicine and rheumatology The Crown Point facility is poised to meet a core need: Based on an assessment of the market, UChicago Medicine found that about 15% of patients in Northwest Indiana travel outside the region for medical care, with roughly 1 in 5 of that group visiting the health system's facilities in and around Chicago.

EMERGENCY MEDICINE: World-renowned UChicago Medicine emergency medicine experts bring the forefront of care to Northwestern Indiana. With our emergency department in Crown Point, IN, we offer our patients access to board-certified, fellowship-trained emergency medicine physicians and highly skilled support staff with immediate, 24/7 medical care closer to home. Common conditions treated include abdominal pain, back pain, bleeding, broken bones, chest pain, complications from chronic conditions, such as asthma, COPD, diabetes, dizziness, fainting, seizures, severe high fever, skin infections, and upper respiratory infections. At UChicago Medicine Northwest Indiana, patients will find cutting-edge imaging tools, experienced radiologists and emergency medicine doctors skilled at reading those images. There is in-house imaging, including CT, X-ray, PET, MRI, ultrasound capabilities, and in-house lab services. This helps reduce delays in results and treatment. Patients needing an ambulance can request to be taken to UChicago Medicine Northwest Indiana ED as they talk with paramedics. If a patient needs to be admitted directly from the ED for additional care, Crown Point features an eight-bed, fully-equipped inpatient unit with a highly experienced physician staff and medicine subspecialty consultants.
