THE PROMISE SCHOOL OPERATED ITS FIRST SCHOOL YEAR IN 2023. ELEVEN STUDENTS, FOUR IN 4TH GRADE AND SEVEN IN 3RD GRADE, ENROLLED. ALL STUDENTS COMPLETED THE ACADEMIC YEAR. THE STUDENTS RECEIVED HIGHLY SPECIALIZED EDUCATION FOR DYSLEXIA WITH THE ORTON-GILLINGHAM METHODOLOGY, IN ADDITION TO A MULTI-SENSORY LEARNING CURRICULUM FOR OTHER CORE SUBJECTS. TO SUPPORT ADDITIONAL STUDENT DEVELOPMENT, THE SCHOOL ENGAGED ART THERAPISTS, MUSIC THERAPISTS, AND SPECIALIZED INSTRUCTION FOR IMPULSE CONTROL AND SELF-REGULATION. THE PROMISE SCHOOL INVESTED IN ON-GOING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR ITS STAFF TO ENSURE THEY HAD THE HIGHEST SKILL LEVEL TO EDUCATE DYSLEXIC LEARNERS. THE STAFF ALSO RECEIVED DARKNESS TO LIGHT TRAINING TO ENSURE THE PREVENTION OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE, OTHER FORMS OF ABUSE, AND MANDATED REPORTING THE SCHOOL CONDUCTED ITS BASELINE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FIRST LEVEL OF ACCREDITATION WITH THE SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
