In the fiscal year of 2023/2024 Watershed Solutions Network (WSN) focused on building a Board of Directors and putting organization systems in place to launch as a new organization on July 1, 2024. WSN was originally created in 2017 as a joint program between Coro Northern California (the charitable organization that served as fiscal sponsor until July, 2024), Water Education for Latino Leaders, and Dig In. WSN has grown to a network of nearly 150 cross-sector leaders across the water and land stewardship arenas in California and neighboring watersheds. Founded with a concern about the intensity of extreme water challenges facing California and the nature of how water and land are managed in the West, WSN has dedicated itself to fostering relationships and building leadership skills that increase capacity to take bold, collaborative action toward equitable and sustainable land and water stewardship in California and watersheds we share with other states. Watershed Solutions Network cultivates interconnected networks and relationships that increase collaborative capacity to improve land and water stewardship. Focusing its efforts at watershed scale, WSN convenes cross-sector, equity-centered leaders and facilitates collaborative problem solving to advance sustainable watershed stewardship and achieve equitable and comprehensive solutions. WSN creates and facilitates the conversations and frameworks that offer pathways toward systems approaches to coordinate the good work already being done and help catalyze additional large-scale solutions. Watershed Solutions Network works towards its mission in the three programmatic areas of Network Development, Watershed Framework Test Drives, and Field Learning Opportunities. In these programmatic areas, WSN provides leaders the tools and frameworks necessary via its educational offerings to better work in the complex and interconnected area that is watershed stewardship and thus facilitate greater resiliency in and informed judgment about managing the land and water systems both in terms of intervention and preservation.
