PassinArt hosted a successful festival attended by more than 400 people from local, regional, and national communities. The festival screened 37 films and presented over 25 readings of new plays. It also featured a special premiere reading of a new play written and performed by our celebrity ambassador, award-winning actor and director Regina Taylor. This season also marked PassinArts return to the community with its mainstage production of Black Nativity by Langston Hughes, presented at Alberta Abbey to an audience of 1,700. To strengthen the season, PassinArt expanded its local marketing efforts, including outreach to schools, community groups, other theaters, and the broader public. Our Youth Theater Camp offered three five-week sessions in partnership with the New Columbia housing community and Home Forward, where we saw increased participation. Home Forward serves Multnomah County as part of the Housing Authorities supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The camp has consistently served Black students ages 8 to 11 and their families, and it is set to expand in 2026 to include more high school students as well.
