CUB WORKS AT THE INTERSECTION OF UTILITY POLICY AND REGULATION TO DEVELOP INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS, EMPOWER CONSUMERS, AND ENGAGE STAKEHOLDERS AROUND UTILITY ISSUES THAT AFFECT OREGONIANS.

CUB SAVED CUSTOMERS MORE THAN $200 MILLION IN 2023. CUB CHALLENGED BILL INCREASES FOR CUSTOMERS ACROSS OREGON. FOR PORTLAND GENERAL ELECTRIC CUSTOMERS IN NORTHWEST OREGON, WE SLASHED $34 MILLION OFF THE REQUESTED INCREASE. FOR AVISTA GAS CUSTOMERS IN SOUTHERN AND EASTERN OREGON, CUB ELIMINATED SUBSIDIES FOR EXPANDING FOSSIL FUEL INFRASTRUCTURE AND COSTS FOR LOBBYING AND FOSSIL FUEL TRADE ASSOCIATIONS. AVISTA ALSO MUST PRIORITIZE NON-PIPE SOLUTIONS, WHICH WILL REDUCE FUTURE RATE INCREASES. PGE CUSTOMERS RECEIVED A $6.5 MILLION REFUND ASSOCIATED WITH THE CLOSED BOARDMAN COAL PLANT.THIS SPRING, CUB HELPED PASS LEGISLATION TO SUPPORT BUILDING RESILIENCY. MORE EFFICIENT BUILDINGS CAN SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER ENERGY BILLS WHILE MAKING OUR HOMES MORE COMFORTABLE. THIS NEW CUB-SUPPORTED LAW WILL IMPROVE STATE PROGRAMS TO SUPPORT ELECTRIC HEAT PUMPS, IMPROVE CODES FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION, AND ADD OTHER BUILDING EFFICIENCY MEASURES.CUB SUPPORTED EXPANSION OF LOW-INCOME BILL DISCOUNT PROGRAMS THAT SAVE QUALIFIED CUSTOMERS BETWEEN 20% AND 90% ON THEIR MONTHLY ENERGY BILLS. DISCOUNTS PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED AT PGE, PACIFIC POWER, NW NATURAL, AVISTA AND CASCADE NATURAL GAS.
