Mission

Rasika's primary exempt purpose is to promote, present and educate the public on the arts and culture of India primarily in the State of Oregon. This is accomplished by presenting lecture demonstrations, workshops and presentation of folk and classical music of India and dance concerts by master artists from India and other local Indian artists resident in Oregon and from all over the US. The distinguishing feature of this organization is its mission to provide education/outreach of the Indian arts and culture. Rasika celebrated the 25th year anniversary with more programming and support that enabled us to increase our gross for this fiscal year 2023-24. We increased the visibility of the organization and started newer programs.

For the 25th year, RASIKA presented a major concert, one of India's most illustrious and internationally renowned vocalist Shreya Ghoshal with her troupe at the prestigious performing arts venue in Portland, the Keller auditorium. This was attended by over 2500 people. This great achievement in the 25th year of RASIKA bringing an artist of her caliber for the first time to Portland was appreciated by the community.

RASIKA presented the 25th season inaugural concert by Sudha Raghunathan, one of the top Carnatic Vocalist, singer and composer. She was conferred the coveted awards, Padma Shri (2004) and Padma Bhushan (2015) by the Government of India. This concert was supported by a Grant from Regional Arts and Culture council, Portland.
