MEOWDOG WORKS CLOSELY WITH THE VETERINARY SCIENCES PROGRAM AT OUR LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL. WHENEVER POSSIBLE, STUDENTS TAKE ACTION TO PROVIDE MEDICAL CARE, MAKE PHONE CALLS, AND PROCESS APPLICATIONS AND FOSTER FORMS TO GAIN REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE WHILE STILL GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY IN A UNIQUE AND HANDS ON WAY. EXAMPLES INCLUDE ADMINISTERING MEDICATIONS, TAKING ANIMALS TO THE VET, TAKING ANIMALS INTO FOSTER HOMES, HELPING PROMOTE SOCIAL MEDIA, AND WORKING WITH THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO RAISE AWARENESS. MEOWDOG HELPS BY PARTNERING WITH LOCAL SHELTERS, RESCUES, AND VETERINARIANS IN ORDER TO PROVIDE QUALITY CARE TO ALL ANIMALS. THE PURPOSE OF OUR PROGRAM IS TO HELP THOSE IN NEED AND REHABILITATE THEM WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF MANY STUDENTS, COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS, AND VETERINARY PRACTICES. WE WORK WITH COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND BUSINESSES TO HOLD FUNDRAISING AND ADOPTION EVENTS. WE PULL ANIMALS FROM SEVERAL SHELTERS BUT WE PRIMARILY USE COLLETON COUNTY AND SUMTER COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTERS. HOWEVER WE HAVE ALSO WORKED WITH MANNING, ORANGEBURG, AND GREENVILLE, SC. WHEN WE HAVE SPACE, WE ALSO WILL BRING ANIMALS IN FROM MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY WHO HAVE FOUND AN ANIMAL IN NEED. WE ALSO HOST A BI-YEARLY DOG WASH, WHERE COMMUNITY MEMBERS BRING THEIR DOGS TO BE WASHED TO HELP RAISE FUNDS FOR OUR RESCUE. ALL OF THESE THINGS ARE VOLUNTEER BASED ACTIVITIES SO WE RELY ON THE COMMUNITY AND FUNDRASING EVENTS TO HELP SUSTAIN OUR RESCUE. DURING 2024 WE RESCUED, FOSTERED, AND ADOPTED OUT APPROXIMATELY 75 DOGS AND CATS.
