Night Sky Network - As part of Society's work with the amateur astronomy community, the Society administers the NASA Night Sky Network, a nationwide coalition of astronomy clubs bringing the science and inspiration of NASA's missions to the public. In the 20th year of this program, the ASP provides NASA speakers and outreach materials for amateur astronomy clubs, as well as a forum for those involved in community outreach to exchange ideas and learn from each other. The program was developed and is operated for NASA by the Society and is currently supported by NASA's Science Activation Program under the Science Mission Directorate. Eclipse Ambassadors - To prepare communities off the path of totality for the April 2024 eclipse, the Eclipse Ambassadors Off the Path program trained more than 700 volunteers. These partnerships of eclipse enthusiasts with undergraduate students enhanced the scope and audiences of the program, leading to innovative public engagement in faith centers, soup kitchens, and public spaces in 47 states plus DC and 2 US territories. The program volunteers reached more than 200,000 people with engaging eclipse science and safety information.Eclipse Stars To bring effective experiences to viewers of the total solar eclipse in April 2024, Eclipse Stars used two strands of professional development delivered, one to classroom educators, and the other to scientists planning on delivering public outreach related to the eclipse. Each group participated in workshops where they learned about the science of eclipses and actively participated in a variety of activities to use in either their classrooms or during public outreach events. A toolkit of physical materials for learners to manipulate was developed. Materials allowed participants to physically model eclipses and other phenomena related to their occurrence. Over 300 educators and scientists participated in the workshops, who eventually reached approximately 148,000 learners of all ages.The Astronomical Society of the Pacific offers several innovative educational programs which support astronomers, teachers, and other science educators.
