Chinese American Citizens Alliance- Grand Lodge

Annually officers and members of the Alliance travel to Washington D.C. to meet with elected representatives, officials, their staff, and other Asian American organizations for the purpose of gaining a better understanding of the workings of our government, as well as to exchange information and ideas on issues of significance to our members and the Chinese and Asian American communities. To enhance their education experiences and their leadership growth, college students are chosen to travel, participate, and attend alongside the Alliance officers and members.As a benefit to its members, the Alliance occasionally hosts luncheons or dinners or provide a small item of recognition or award in honor of a special occasion or the passing of a member who has volunteered his or her time and services in a significant manner to the Alliance. The Alliance also provides a monetary donation to its local chapter upon it reaching a significant milestone, such as a decennial anniversary. Through its newsletters and website, the Alliance also endeavors to keep its members informed of its activities, as well as issues of current and historical significance to its members and the Chinese American communities.To encourage our youth toward scholastic excellence, the Chinese American Citizens Alliance (the Alliance) has held a national essay contest for high school students annually for over 40 years. The Alliance also holds a biennial art contest for K-12 students. As part of the art contests program, we collaborate with the Chinese American museum to provide a venue to showcase the talents of these students. In addition, we have provided support to other Chinese American organizations such as the Chinese Hospital and the Chinese American museum, who in turn provided needed services to their respective Chinese American communities.Organized the Chinese American WWII Veterans Recognition Project is to recognize, honor and celebrate the military service of Chinese Americans who fought in the Second World War through advocacy, education and preservation. Our work is to ensure that the achievements and contributions of the greatest generation will never be forgotten by spearheading a national campaign to identify, honor and recognize the efforts and accomplishments of all Chinese Americans who served in the United States Armed Services in World War II. Advocating for the passage of S.1050 and H. R. 2358 Chinese American World War II Veterans Congressional Gold Medal Act. Educating the public about their efforts and accomplishments while serving the United States; and preserving their legacy so the greatest generation will never be forgotten.Provide each Chinese American WWII veterans and their descendants with a Replica of the Congressional Gold Medal through ceremonies in various locations.Support Special Short Film project produced in association with Emmy nominated filmmaker, Montgomery Hom. We served with pride, road to the Congressional Gold Medal highlights the accomplishments and history of Chinese American WWII veterans and the journey to the Congressional Gold Medal.
