Financial Literacy: The YWCA Berkeley/Oaklands financial literacy programming works to serve youth and adults to better prepare them with the necessary knowledge for educated financial freedom and growth. There are three parts to our financial literacy programming: youth financial literacy, Moving Ahead, and the Young Women and Money Conference.Our youth financial literacy program is intended to provide teens with the proper financial foundation to succeed and feel at ease in their life pathways after high school. The program mostly works with high school students ages 14-18. Moving Ahead is an Allstate Foundation grant-funded program that works to financially empower women who have suffered domestic violence and/or financial abuse, are currently experiencing domestic abuse, or who may be at risk for financial abuse as they need the necessary tools to navigate their finances, become independent, and/or leave an unhealthy situation if they choose. The Young Women and Money Conference aims to bring forth financial empowerment, independence, and literacy to young women. This event is targeted to young women of varying backgrounds, education levels, and financial levels.

Workforce Development: The YWCA Berkeley/Oaklands workforce development programming works to serve youth and adults to better prepare them with the necessary knowledge for career success and growth. There are three parts to our workforce development programming: Career Coaching, Digital Literacy, and YW Tech Lab. Our Career Coaching provides on-one-on and group workforce development training to prepare community members to sculpt their career by setting them up with the skills they need to find a new job or grow in their current position. The Digital Literacy Program at the YWCA Berkeley/Oakland addresses the growing need to teach personal digital literacy to the senior community in order to increase their skills and success in the technology-driven world. We provide workshops on digital literacy for the public, targeting older individuals and/or immigrant populations that may be new to current technology. Targeted at underrepresented minorities with no technical experience, YW Tech Lab aims to increase diversity in the tech industry by empowering these individuals with essential technical skills. YW Tech Lab is a completely free, asynchronous course covering basics of web development.
