IT FACILITATES LOCAL HISTORICAL RESEARCH THROUGH CONTINUED LOCAL NEWSPAPER INDEXING. ITS RESEARCH CENTER SERVES RESEARCHERS IN PERSON, BY MAIL, AND EMAIL. THE COMPILATION OF SUCH ACTIVITIES IS FOCUSED ON THE PRESERVATION OF THE LOCAL AREA'S HISTORY THROUGH: A STANDING INSTALLATION IN THE PRINCIPLE GALLERY DRAWN FROM ARTIFACTS DISPLAYED ON A ROTATIONAL BASIS FROM THE PERMANENT COLLECTION. TEMPORARY EXHIBITS ARE ALSO MOUNTED WHICH UTILIZE ITEMS FROM THE PERMANENT COLLECTION AND/OR THOSE BORROWED FROM OUTSIDE COLLECTORS. THE MUSEUM STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS HAVE REFURBISHED THE PERMANENT GALLERY. N ADDITION, THE HEALDSBURG MUSEUM & HISTORICAL SOCIETY HAS RESEARCHERS WHO WRITE AND PUBLISH A SCHOLARLY HISTORICAL JOURNAL ON A QUARTERLY BASIS CALLED, "THE RUSSIAN RIVER RECORDER." PARTNERING WITH THE HEALDSBURG BRANCH OF THE SONOMA COUNTY LIBRARY, THE MUSEUM MAINTAINS AN ONGOING ORAL HISTORY PROJECT.
