In a challenging pandemic year, Oakland Youth Chorus was proud to continue to serve over 1600 K-8 students- providing them with enriching choral and general music education through inschool and after school programs. Music in Schools program provides 1600 K-8 singers and music students in yearlong programs at 6 sites, where students learn music of many cultures including Ghana, Palestine, Israel, Venezuela, South Africa, and Spain. Programs are offered significant in-school and community performances that provide opportunities for each student to develop confidence and community building across neighborhoods.Chorus program continues to garner praise and acclaim for musicality and energetic performances, even while online.
