SCHA provided housing to 90 low-income members during the academic year and 72 over the summer. On average, our rents were 59% of the weighted average market rent for bed leases in Davis in 2023. We offered $5,679 in rent assistance to members in need and 28% of members had their rent reduced by SCHAs sliding scale. We continued our partnership with Sacramento Valley College Corps, providing our members and low-income college students the opportunity to be compensated for their service with SCHA and gain hands-on experience with landscape management and our Food Justice Initiative project. This year we focused on creating and filling a new Maintenance Coordinator staff position, and rebuilding the cooperative community at Pierce Co-op, which reopened after nearly a year of closure due to severe water damage. While the renovations project at the Baggins End Domes faced significant challenges and delays during the pandemic and is not yet complete, we restated our commitment to preserving the Domes as relatively affordable on-campus housing for UC Davis students who are interested in cooperative living, and we began revising our plans for their completion, along with utilities upgrades.
