PERFORMANCES: Throughout the season, PBO presented a diverse range of programming that included historically informed performances of Baroque masterpieces, contemporary works for period instruments, and innovative interdisciplinary collaborations. Artistic Excellence: By engaging world-class soloists and presenting meticulously researched performances, PBO maintained its position as America's leading period-instrument ensemble.2. Audience Development: Programming presented at multiple venues (Herbst Theatre in San Francisco, Bing Concert Hall at Stanford, First Church in Berkeley, and others) expanded our geographic reach across the Bay Area, while our East Coast tour extended our national presence.3. Educational Impact: Our Coffee & Cake Concert series provided accessible entry points to Baroque music for new audiences, with performances in community venues in Piedmont, San Francisco, and Palo Alto.4. Innovation: The season balanced core baroque repertoire with new works written for period instruments (Bates, Wallen, O'Regan) and the adventurous production of Dido's Ghost, demonstrating our commitment to keeping historical performance relevant and vibrant.5. Diversity Initiatives: Programming highlighted works by female composers both historical (Cozzolani, Aleotti) and contemporary (Wallen, Shaw), contributing to a more inclusive representation in classical music.6. Organizational Development: Successful auditions for tenured cello (2 positions) and oboe strengthened our core ensemble for years to come.
